Learn How To Meditate
I want to learn to meditate but just had back surgery, is it necessary to have to sit with your legs folded?
I can only sit in a chair, can I meditate in that position or in a prone position? I also shut off my chakras for reasons I can’t get into but I forgot how I did it therefor I can’t open them up again. Actually I remember (it’s been some time ago) I did something like turing either clockwise or counterclockwise on my forehead and the back of my neck. Has any one ever heard of this? I want to meditate to speed up my recovery.
I want to thank you all for your help and I wish I can pick all of you , you’ve been most helpful.
So what if you had back surgery, you can still meditate.
Here are some pointers to expedite. First thing is there
is no necessity to squat on the ground. Sit on a straight
back chair so your spine is straight. While your feet should
be firmly planted on the ground but it is advantageous if
you keep a folded blanket so that the energy generated
during meditation does not get depilated into the ground.
With both the feet planted firmly on the blanket face
preferably east or north direction while meditation. Next
hold gyan mudra (gesture). This is simply done by
touching the tip of the forefinger with the tip of the thumb
and keeping other three fingers straight. Do this with both
the hands. Place the hands on the respective thighs.Next park the tip of your tongue on the roof of
your mouth – somewhere behind the front teeth. This is
called as Jeeva mudra which along with gyan mudra will
go a long way in contributing towards concentration of your
mind. Lastly observe your breath. Feel the cool air
entering your nostril and warm air leaving your nostril. Please
do not manipulate the breath. It may stop, move, slow down
or even move fast. Just be an observer that is all and pretty
soon you will wonder – hey why didn’t i think of this.
Good luck and god bless. Cheers!
