Mat Pilates Dvd
I am new to Pilates. Does one need a reformer machine to be successful in it?
Does one need a reformer machine to get a great pilates workout or are the mat exercises just as good? I’ve tried some mat workouts myself using Winsor pilates workout dvds and I just could not feel my core working like I thought it would. Taking a few private lessons to get the correct form seem to be the best choice for the DVD mat exercise route.
Has anyone purchased a Reformer machine? What are the differences between mat pilates and machine pilates?
I don’t think you would need a reformer machine in order to get a good pilates work out. I’ve never used a reformer, but I am sure that people have been just as successful with mat pilates as with the machine. I have done pilates work outs, and I would suggest taking a pilates class as the way to go. Having a live instructor there showing you the techniques and giving tips specific to you may help you see more of a difference. Look for pilates classes in your area..I know they offer them fairly cheap at community colleges or gyms. I wouldn’t spend $2000 on a machine that might end up in a yard sale in 5 years when I can get cheap classes doing the same thing.
