Meditation Classes Los Angeles
Where in Los Angeles can I take meditation classes?
I’m very interested in beginning to do meditation, but I’d like to take a class so I can have someone instructing me, so that I know i’m doing it correctly. Then at a certain point, I’d like to start doing it on my own once I know what I’m doing. Where in Los Angeles are some good facilities that provide classes like this? (Can be in Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Studio City, North Hollywood, or the general LA area.)
Hey Sean,
Meditation is one of the best things you can do (really!), and in Los Angeles there must be a ton of places where you can learn it.
I don’t live in LA myself, but I’m actually visiting there tomorrow! The place I’m personally connected with is Ananda Los Angeles — I can vouch for the sincerity and ability of their teachers, whom I know personally, and the efficacy of the techniques, which I’ve been practicing for years.
They have a one-day workshop coming on on October 17 that sounds like it would be good for what you are looking for.
At the workshop, you’d probably learn the Hong-Sau technique, which is an ancient yogic meditation technique. You can actually learn this technique online if you want, here:
http://www.ananda.org/meditation/technique.html
… but even so, in-person contact with a live meditation teacher is important, and I think you have the right idea, wanting to take a real class! If you feel to try the technique at the above webpage before the class, you might get more from the class itself.
I hope that helps. I’m happy to share more information if you have any questions.
