New Age Instrumental Music
I need help finding my grandmother some music to put in a ipod I purchased for her for her birthday?
When I hang out with her she likes music like classical, but not something bach, more like movie themes like star wars, or the passion of Christ. I seen a Yannti case on her closet floor when I went to help clean, but no cd, so I got kind of a clue, and was tempted to ask but that would spoil the surprise. And I think an ipod would be great since she’s hard of hearing but won’t get a hearing aid since she says there’s nothing wrong with her ears, But her neighbors think differently. She doesn’t like big band songs or Franky S etc that the others her age liked. She likes instrumental,,, but not to classical…please help with some ideas. I can go over to amazon and play them to see if it’s right or not and then fill her ipod with some new tunes. Thanks. oh and she doesn’t really care for the generic new age trippy stuff, or generaric 99cent dollar store either
Since she likes instrumental, she might like Floyd Cramer, who was
a great piano player and did alot of instrumentals in movies too. His
piano sound had more of a tinkly honkey tonk sound. For singers,
she might enjoy Roger Whittaker, a balladeer who was quite popular.
He had a mellodious sound to his singing. Or Peter, Paul, and Mary,
or some other groups popular in the 60’s and 70’s. There’s a category,
called, “Easy Listening”, which you can probably find anywhere to
look up singers and groups. Also Elvis did alot of good songs, and he
did a gospel album that is easy listening. I liked alot of Conway
Twitty, early on, and when he crossed over to country music.I like
George Jones also, for his unique voice.
I listen to a radio channel in our town, that is all easy listening. And
they play songs from musicals, and crooners, like Dean Martin and
others like him. There are alot of easy listening singers and groups
you will be able to find, once you start looking.
