X Back Chair
What length of curtain to use with chair rail?
I have a chair rail (height of the back of a chair) in my dining room. There is one window in the room, about 30″ wide and it sits right on top of the chair rail. I want to put a curtain on this window, but can’t decide what length of curtain to use. Valence? Resting just above the chair rail (and length of window)? Floor length? Something else?
The curtain would only be for decorative purposes and I don’t need to worry about privacy or light. The dining room is roughly 14′ x 15′ and this is the only window. It’s not that formal of a room, but I would like to add some style.
What have others done?
A possibility would be to have the curtain full length and put a small sofa table (these are tables that aren’t very deep) underneath the window that is smaller than the length of the window and has the same height as the chair rail. You can display pictures or decorative accessories here. If you want a short length curtain then a I would suggest putting a buffet that is longer than the window. This is just to make the window appear complete. Hope this helps!
