Yoga Mat Brands
so if i wanted to start yoga, i need a mat. so which is the best brand or type out there?
The current issue of Yoga Journal (May 2009) has a short article comparing types of ‘eco-friendly’ mats (page 26).
They compare virtues of mats made from jute, natural rubber, cotton, and synthetics.
They list the manufactureers who offer mats in the given material.
The article only offers the ‘pros’ to each material, no ‘cons.’
To learn drawbacks to each material you may want to talk to various people, or try your own web research.
If your public library does not carry Yoga Journal, you could always just look at an issue in the magazine section of a store.
Even tho I beleive it’s synthetic, I have been happy with my Hugger Mugger brand ‘Mandara’ mat which I’ve used now for about six years.
It’s a 1/4 inch thick, and I like the extra thickness, but it definately contributes to it not being very light in weight.
If you do a web search on phrase “how to choose yoga mat”, you will get several results.
